HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' BASKETBALL: HORSEHEADS RALLIES FOR WIN OVER CORNING (24 PHOTOS) (2024-01-05)

CORNING — Down 12 points in the third quarter, Horseheads rallied to lead by five late in the quarter, and eventually they pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 60-51 win at Corning.

Corning led 32-22 at the half, but Horseheads scored 23 third-quarter points and led in the quarter, before heading into the fourth quarter tied at 45. Horseheads then outscored the Hawks 15-6 in the fourth to win the game.

Maddox Hughey finished with 19 points for Horseheads, seven in the fourth quarter. He had six in the second quarter.

Alex Daugherty had 14 points for Horseheads, nine coming in the third-quarter run.

Just minutes into the third Horseheads went on a 6-0 run to get within six and from there they just continued to mount the comeback.

Chase Harmer finished with 10 points for Horseheads, eighth in the fourth and all 10 points in the second half.

Miles Woodhouse had eight points, all of them coming in the big third quarter run.

Andrew Potter had four points, John Durr had three points and Jack Fesetch finished with two points for Horseheads.

Hughey and Daugherty each had double-doubles for the Blue Raiders.

Daugherty had 13 rebounds and Hughey had 11 boards.

Nolyn Proudfoot had 22 points to lead Corning. He had two threes in the game and went 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Mekai Daniels had eight points for Corning and Gavyn Hogue also had eight points in the game.

Kyler Stevenson had six points for the Hawks and Caleb Anderson had four points, while Kohl Hogue finished with three points.

Larsen Burch had seven boards and Gavyn Hogue had two rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Anderson had five boards and a steal and Stevenson had five boards and an assist.

Daniels had seven rebounds and a steal.
