Paced by a three-goal effort from forward Martin Harguindey '26, the Elmira College men's soccer program opened its season with a 5-2 victory against visiting Morrisville State on Friday afternoon at Campus Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Soaring Eagles opened the scoring just over 16 minutes into the contest as Harguindey finished a beautiful play set up by Jose Navea Corporan '27.
• Konstantinos Triantafillou '27 netted his first collegiate goal for the Purple & Gold at the 20:57 mark of the first half to increase Elmira's advantage to 2-0.
• In the 35th minute of action, Lutho Mlunguza '23 beat the Morrisville keeper to notch his first goal of the season and the 20th of his career.
• Morrisville would end the scoring run by the Soaring Eagles as Dylan Rose beat Elmira keeper Asher Ellis '25 with a goal in the 36th minute to make it 3-1.
• The Mustangs opened the scoring in the second half of the contest as a lucky break for Josh Lawniczak trimmed the deficit for Morrisville to 3-2 in the 69th minute of action.
• Harguindey would make sure that the lead held for the Purple & Gold as he netted a goal in the 72nd minute to push the advantage to 4-2 before notching his third goal of the contest in the 89th minute to cap the scoring at 5-2.
• In net for Elmira, Ellis played a full 90 minutes and stopped a pair of shots as he notched his second career win for the Soaring Eagles.
• Elmira finished the contest with a 12-4 advantage in both corners and shots on goal against the Mustangs.
