
COOPERSTOWN — A group of local athletes got the experience of a lifetime earlier this month as they played a week at All Star Village in Cooperstown.
The Stingers 12u beat some teams from places like California, Long Island and Massachusetts in going 4-3-1 at All Star Village.
The players on the team were Corning’s Chase Kizis, Jake Alwine, Parker Tolbert, Jay Richards, John Graham, Joe Graham, Jackson Dunning, Bradley Rhodes and Jake Page; Horseheads’ Brennen McCullough; Hornell’s Julian King and Buffalo’s Josh Schaller.
John Graham, King, Dunning, Richards, Alwine and Rhodes had home runs on the week.
The team faced competition from California, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Long Island.
The players slept in a bunkhouse for a week and played eight games. They lost a tough one in their second game of the playoffs. They were seeded 19th out of 47 teams.
The team was coached by Pete Graham, Eric Kizis and Jeff Alwine.
