SOUTHSIDE — The Notre Dame girls soccer team controlled play on their way to a 3-0 win over SVEC on Monday night.
Leila Vargas blasted a shot to put Notre Dame on top and then Rachael and Amanda Simpson each scored goals, with Amanda being assisted by her sister, while Rachael was assist by McKenna Keough.
Notre Dame had 23 shots and four corner kicks and SVEC had three shots.
SVEC had nine saves in net and Shannon Maloney made three saves for Notre Dame in the game.
“We are playing in a different formation, getting ready for sectional play,†Notre Dame coach Joe Picco said. “They were extremely dynamic getting in tonight despite it being a game-time decision to give it a go.
“We were fortunate enough to be able to give all our girls great amount of time not he pitch, giving our starters plenty of rest time.â€
With the win the Crusaders officially force a playoff in the division against Waverly. The two teams have played a pair of scoreless ties this year.
The game will be at Notre Dame this week.
