COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: ELMIRA COLLEGE TOPS ALFRED FOR SIXTH WIN IN PAST SEVEN GAMES (24 PHOTOS) (2023-01-22)

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College Women's Basketball team picked up its sixth conference win in its last seven attempts on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Saxons from Alfred University, 61-56. With the contest tied at 41-41 heading into the fourth quarter, the Soaring Eagles were able to erase an eight-point halftime deficit with a 20-15 advantage in the fourth quarter to come out on top during Athletics Alumni Weekend.

Desiree Roy '25 would pick up another double-double, this time a 21-point, 11-rebound effort that included a pair of blocks and a steal. Alleney Klunk '24 finished with 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists while Taylor Albrecht '22 scored nine to round out the Soaring Eagle scoring.

The Soaring Eagles were able to force the Saxons into 12 turnovers for the contest, and despite turning it over 16 times themselves, were able to use a 36-22 advantage in points in the paint to propel themselves to victory.

With the win, the Soaring Eagles have picked up six Empire 8 Conference wins for the first time since the 2014-15 season, where they also recorded six conference wins.
