CORNING — The Corning Hawks jumped out to a 44-6 lead at the half on their way to a 56-14 win over Ithaca on Friday night.

“Culmination of a great day overall for our seniors and our entire ball club,” Corning coach Mike Johnston Jr. said of the win on senior night. “I thought our defensive secondary played really well today. Coach Hughes did a great job preparing them this week.”

Clayton Smith started the scoring at 8:35 of the first quarter on a one-yard run and he had the two-point run.

Jack Barton ran in from 28 yards out for Ithaca at 4:45 to cut the deficit to 8-6.

Miek Lutton had an 11-yard run at 3:23 with Johnny Graham running in the two-point try and LUtton scored at 1:14 on a two-yard run with Smith getting the two-point run.

Dylan Brester returned a fumble 46 yards for a score at 10:52 of the second quarter and at 7:05 Smith scored on a three-yard run and he scored on a 12-yard run at 3:44.

Lutton had a 13-yard touchdown run at 9:40 of the third quarter and River Ryder’s had a four-yard score at the end of the third quarter.

Barton had a 29-yard touchdown and he had the two-point run with 3:17 left in the third.

Smith ran 15 times for 108 yards and Tahj Haynes ran eight times for 104 yards. Lutton had 55 yards on 10 carries and Noah Hutter ran for 29 yards, Graham ran for 24 and Rynders ran for 22.

Brewster had nine tackles and a fumble recovery and Nate Bretch had nine tackles. Parker Jacobus had five tackles and a tackle for a loss and Rynders had four tackles and a tackle for a loss.

Greyson ReSude had 1 1/2 tackles for a loss and three tackles and Bradyn Zimmerman had a sack, a tackle for a loss and three tackles.

Barton led the Ithaca offense, carrying the ball 28 times for 226 yards.
