SECTION 4 FOOTBALL: ELMIRA TOPS ROME FREE ACADEMY FOR 3RD STRAIGHT WIN (2025-10-24)
Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA — The Elmira Express won their third straight game, topping Rome Free Academy 41-21 on Friday night.
After starting the year 1-4, the Express are back to 4-4 on the year.
“Great win, kids played for each other,” Elmira coach Jimmy McCauley said.
Julian Colon got the scoring started with a 35-yard touchdown catch from Zach Conklin. Ben Guyette hit the extra point to make it 7-7.
Rome Free Academy tied the game, but Darien Harris had a 78-yard kick return for a score and Guyette hit the extra point to make it 14-7.
Rashid Driscoll had a fumble recovery and ran in for a score to put Elmira up 21-7 after the Guyette extra point and Harris then blocked a punt, which set up an Arius Bradbury touchdown run to make it 28-14 after the Guyette extra point.
Colon had a seven-yard touchdown run to make it 34-21 and Bradbury capped the scoring with a touchdown run with Guyette hitting the kick.
