HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' WRESTLING: ELMIRA EDGED BY FORKS ON CRITERIA IN SECTION 4 DUALS (24 PHOTOS) (2025-01-22)

HORSEHEADS — The Elmira wrestling team was edged by Chenango Forks on criteria in the Section IV, Division I Duals semifinals on Wednesday night, 33-33.

The match finished tied at 33, but Forks won on criteria A, winning 7 of the 13 weights on the day.

Maddox Hubbard of Forks started things with a 17-1 technical fall win over Nick Johnson at 108 and at 116 Peyton Hubbard pinned Jayden Conklin in 2:45 as Forks went up 11-0.

Elmira won the next three weights to take the lead. Ryder DePadua-Reese had a forfeit win at 124 and Ben Guyette pinned Joey O’Connor in 1:56 at 131, while Lavonte Gibbons pinned Grant MacRabie in 3:02 at 138.

Forks got a pin from Ryan Ferrara in 15 seconds over Hunter Cleary at 145 to get within 18-17.

Elmira’s Max Collins had a 7-3 win over Tyler Ritter to make it 21-17. Elmira, before Forks won three straight. Gabe Pavlick won 10-4 over Cole Swanson to make it 21-20. Talon Ritter won by technical fall 15-0 over Liam Ogden at 170 and Brysen Fry won by technical fall 21-4 over Mason Mack as Forks went up 30-21.

Elmira’s Zahkye Jenkins won by fall in 2:36 over Evan Trusdale at 215 to make it 30-27.

Mike Moppert of Forks clinched the match with a 9-6 sudden-victory 1 win over Rashid Driscoll of Elmira at 285. Driscoll had an escape less than a second after regulation time ran out, just seconds after he had an escape that came just out of bounds.

Dameon Barner of Elmira took a forfeit win at 101 to cap the scoring.
