STAC SWIMMING AND DIVING: HORSEHEADS RETURNS TALENTED GROUP AS THEY BEGIN SEASON (2021-11-30)

The Horseheads swimming and diving team brings a talented group to the pool as they kick off the season Tuesday.

The team opens today with Binghamton at 5:30 p.m. and they have eight returning seniors on the team coached by Eric Winkky.

One of the returning athletes is Aaron Verkleeren. The diver qualified for states last year, but because of Covid the state meet wasn’t held.

The team also returns senior Emmett Hanson, who is the reigning Section 4 champion in the 500 free and Shoonfon Li, a sophomore who is the reigning Section 4 champion in the 200 IM.

Other key performers to watch are Keagen Winkky, a senior breaststroke specialist who last year missed the Horseheads team record by .6 seconds and Collin Cole, a junior who finished second in the 100 free at least year’s sectional meet.
