HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: ELMIRA SET TO OPEN POSTSEASON PLAY AT HOME AGAINST BINGHAMTON (2022-11-04)
By Brian FeesSouthern Tier Sports ReportThe Elmira Express open the postseason today with a home game against Binghamton as they look to earn a spot in the sectional final.
The Blue Raiders beat Binghamton 53-18 in the regular season, but Elmira coach Jimmy McCauley knows that the regular season doesn’t matter right now.
“Our players are excited every week, every team is 0-0 now,” McCauley said.
For the Express they love playing the game anywhere, home or away, but it is fun to be in front of the home fans in their new stadium.
“We love playing football,” McCauley said. “We try to have the same mindset when we play on the road, or at home. We love playing in front of our home fans.”
It’s playoff time now and the Express know they are facing a tough team that has good athletes.
“Binghamton is tough,” McCauley said. “They have large guys in front and incredibly athletic skill players. If they get in the open, they can score.
“We have to do our job on defense and take advantage of opportunities on offense.”
