THE WEEK AHEAD: ALL FALL SPORTS INTO POSTSEASON ACTION (2022-10-30)

The last of the fall sports head into the postseason this week as area teams look to try and bring home championships.

Here’s a look day-by-day at what’s on tap today, including how many events each day. There are 12 area events this week, including four on Wednesday.

MONDAY
* The Edison volleyball team heads to Newark Valley for a first-round sectional matchup.
WEDNESDAY
* The Corning boys’ soccer team takes on Warwick in a sub-regional game at Maine-Endwell.
* The Corning volleyball team hosts Elmira in a Class AA semifinal and Horseheads is at Union-Endicott in Class A.
* The Notre Dame, Horseheads, Corning and Elmira swim teams head to the sectional prelims at Watkins Glen.
THURSDAY
* All five area teams head to Chenango Valley State Park for the sectional meet.
FRIDAY
* The Elmira football team opens Class AA sectionals at home against Binghamton, while in Class A Horseheads is at Vestal.
* The Corning, Horseheads and Elmira divers head to Maine-Endwell for sectionals.
SATURDAY
* The Corning girls’ soccer team takes on the winner of Arlington and Monroe-Woodbury in the regional final.
* The Notre Dame swim team competes in sectional finals at 11 a.m. at Watkins Glen, while Horseheads, Corning and Elmira go at 3:30 p.m.
* The winner of Wednesday’s game between Elmira and Corning face Ithaca in a sectional final.
