HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: HORSEHEADS GIRLS EARN RUNNER-UP FINISH AT OWEGO INVITE (15 PHOTOS) (2022-09-25)

The Horseheads girls finished up as runner-up in the girls’ large school race at the Owego Invite on Saturday.

Horseheads had 80 points with U-W inning at 71 points.

Mackenzie Baker was 13th in 21:28.3 followed by Taylor Tremba in 21:32.3. Samantha Oakes was 16th in 21:47.3 followed by Ayla Kerwan at 21:49.7. Alexus Borek was 20th in 22:36.4.

In the girls’ JV race Horseheads had three of the top four finishers. Corinne DeFilippo was second in 22:30.7 followed by Jennifer Kruckow in 22:52.1 and Sophia Christmas in 22:55.1

The boys took fifth at 129 points. Vestal won at 35 points,.

Kiran Gulati was eighth in 17:24.8 and Cael Owen was 11th in 17:48.4. Nicholas Kowal was 37th in 19:20.9 and Collin Carpenter was 39th in 19:48.5. Cole Koratsis was 40th in 19:49.6 followed by Hunter Lewis (19:49.9) and Nathan Zhou (19:51.5). Max Williams was 50th in 21:23.5 followed by Samir Gulati at 21:50.9.

In the boys’ modified large school race Russell Morse was 10th for the Blue Raiders in 10:39 and Logan Hornsby was 12th in 11:01. John ‘Jack’ Sydlan was 18th in 11:25 and Keegan Duart was 20th in 11:37.

For the girls Suzanne Sydlansky was sixth in 12:24.3 followed by Layla Storch in 12:25.4. Horseheads took third as a team in the girls modified race.

Joel Scibek was seventh in the JV race in 19:21.1. Horseheads took third as a team with 98 points.
