HIGH SCHHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: YOUNGER CORNING RUNNERS FIND SUCCESS AT OWEGO INVITE (15 PHOTOS) (2022-09-25)

OWEGO — While the varsity runners for Corning were competing at the Bowdoin Park Invite, another group of runners for the Hawks were finding success at the Owego Invite.

Corning’s Maddie Sweet won the JV race in 22:27 and teammates Ashley Tubbs (8th), Emma Pfleegor (9th) and McKenzie Kaufman (10th) rounded out the top 10. Tubbs finished in 24:53, Pfleegor in 25:38.3 AND KAUFMAN IN 25:45.6.

In the varsity girls large school race Corning was seventh at 162 with U-E winning at 71 points. For the boys Corning was eighth at 197 with Vestal winning at 35 points.

Lorelei Strong took 26th for the Hawks in 23:34.6 and Corning’s Elsa Wood was 30th in 23:52.7 followed by Jenna Rosenkrans in 24:01.8.

Sofia Scouten was 38th in 24:26.5 followed by Joy Morey in 24:31.7 and Hadley Murray was 41st in 24:48.6.

On the boys side Dylan rose was 34th in 19;16.1 and Joe Caruso was 38th in 19:24. Eddie Jiang was 44th in 20:19 followed by Joseph Pedicure in 20:30.8. Bryce Hammond was 48th in 20:50.3 followed by Matthew Mahon in 21:02.8.

In the girls’ modified large school race Corning’s Lauren Williams was second in 11:58 and teammates Chinonyerem Okoro was fourth in 12:20.9 followed by Macilyn York in 12:23.9. Corning’s Uma Padma S Thutar was eighth in 12:28.6.

Jessica Thomas was 20th in 14:13.5.

In the boys’ JV race Corning’s Sean Freeland was 21st in 20:53.
