HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY; CORNING BOYS AND GIRLS EACH FOURTH AT BOWDOIN PARK (14 PHOTOS) (2022-09-24)

WAPPINGERS FALLS — Facing some of the best competition in the Northeast, the Corning boys and girls cross country teams each finished fourth at the Bowdoin Park XC Classic on Saturday.

Corning’s girls finished fourth with 150 points. Union Catholic Regional out of New Jersey was first at 39. Haddonfield Memorial out of New Jersey was second at 49 and New Milford out of Connecticut was fourth. Corning was the top New York school in the race.

For the boys Christian Brothers High School out of New Jersey won at 52, followed by Westfiueld out of New Jersey at140 and Union Catholic at 157. Corning was at 170.

There were 253 runners in the girls race. Corning’s Sarah Lawson had a third-place finished in 19:24.4. Only two runners from Union Catholic were ahead of her, as Lawson was the top finisher from New York in the race.

Lauren Roche took 22nd for Corning in 20:43.7 and Sadie Beres finished 33rd in 21:19.6.

Ella Grinnell finished 48th in 21:55.9 and Meghan McLaughlin finished 56th in 22:05.8.

Cassandra Collins was 68th in 22:25.1 and Taylor Farrell was 73rd in 22:39.8. Olivia Murch was 91st in 23:11. Christina Peet was 116th in 22:32.8. Abby Reppert was 141st in 24:38.8 and Kendall Curreri was 148th in 24:56.3 while Elianna Schneider was 157th in 25:17.6.

For the boys Tevin McLaren finished 14th in 16:39 and Ashton Bange was 24th in 16:52. There were 443 runners in the boys race.

DJ Cornfield was 32nd in 16:59.1 and Joshua Beres was 42nd in 17:04.2 and Marcus Homa was 61st in 17:19.7.

Gabe Cornfield was 65th in 17:25.3 and Jaxyn Mahoney was 94th in 17:54.9. Gregory Homa was 112th in 18:15.8 and Aidan Kahabka was 133rd in 18:30.3. Sebastian Boutwell was 157th in 18:53.9 and Sam Segal was 171st in 19:09.2. Nick Ferratella was 223rd in 19:57.
