A Corning West graduate returns to town to coach against Corning to highlight the day in local sports.

Here’s a look at what’s on tap today.

BOYS’ SOCCER
SS. SEWARD INSTITUTE AT CORNING, NOON
Corning, No. 9 in the state in Class AA rankings, hosts SS Seward, No. 16 in the Class C rankings, at noon in Corning.

The matchup was set up as coach William Steele, a Corning West 1984 graduate and the current SS Seward coached, reached out in the offseason.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
CHENANGO VALLEY AT HORSEHEADS, 1 P.M.
A tough Chenango Valley team travels to Horseheads to take on the Blue Raiders in an afternoon matchup.

CROSS COUNTRY
HORSEHEADS, ELMIRA, EDISON, NOTRE DAME AT OWEGO INVITE
Four area teams head to Owego to join a number of other Section 4 teams, and teams from outside in the section, in the annual Owego Invite.

CORNING AT BOWDOIN PARK, 9 A.M.
The Hawks make a long trip to take on some tough competition.
