Southern Tier Sports ReportIt’s the official kickoff of the new stadium at Elmira, and it’s homecoming as the Express host Union-Endicott to highlight today’s events.
Here’s a look at what’s on tap today.
FOOTBALL
UNION-ENDICOTT AT ELMIRA, 7 P.M.The Express play host to a team that won a sectional final a year ago in their homecoming game, and also the first football game in their new stadium. Elmira comes in 2-0 on the year, while Union-Endicott enters coming off a win over Horseheads, following a loss to Maine-Endwell.
HORSEHEADS AT ITHACA, 7 P.M.The Blue Raiders hit the road for the first time this season. Horseheads is 1-2 on the year, with the two losses to sectional champions from a year ago (Cicero North-Syracuse and Union-Endicott).
VESTAL AT CORNING, 7:15 P.M.The Hawks enter 2-0 on the year and look to move to 3-0 as they face an 0-2 Vestal team, that’s better than its record. This is the Hawks third straight home game to begin the year.
BOYS’ SOCCER
CORNING AT ATHENS, 7 P.M.The Hawks travel to Pennsylvania for a non-league matchup against the Wildcats.
VOLLEYBALL
WATKINS GLEN AT EDISON, 6:30 P.M.The Spartans play host to the Senecas in an IAC matchup.
SWIMMING & DIVING
HORSEHEADS, CORNING, ELMIRA, NOTRE DAME AT WATKINS GLEN, 4:30 P.M.Area teams head to Watkins Glen for the first day of a two day invitational.
TENNIS
HORSEHEADS AT BINGHAMTON, 5:30 P.M.The Blue Raiders hit the road for a STAC matchup.
UNION-ENDICOTT AT CORNING, 4:30 P.M.The Hawks are home for a match against the Tigers.
