JV BASEBALL: HORSEHEADS TOPS SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY TO STAY UNBEATEN, REACH STAC FINAL (2022-05-17)

HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads JV baseball team moved to 11-0 on the year as they advanced to the JV STAC final with a 15-2 win over Susquehanna Valley on Tuesday.

Micah Hays went five innings on the mound, striking out 10 and giving up three hits and two runs. Adrian Solomento entered in the sixth inning and struck out the side and Devin Sullivan finished off the game by striking out two in the final inning.

Solomento had three hits, with two doubles and Hays had two hits, with a double. Anthony Bifano had two hits on the day.

Josh Stout, Sullivan, Andrew Wood, Kegan Monahan, Brendan Clark, Cooper Ball and Zach Giammichele all had hits for the Blue Raiders in the game.

Solomento scored three runs for Horseheads and Monahan scored three runs as well. Hays and Trevor Reidy each scored two runs and Stout, Sullivan, Ball and Hunter Matkosky all sco0red runs.

Monahan, Stout, Ball and Solomento all had two RBI for the Blue Raiders in the game.

Bifano, Clark and Matkosky all had RBI in the game for Horseheads.

While the Blue Raiders had a dominant win on Tuesday, they have also been great in close games this year, winning five one-run games and three games by walk-off.

Horseheads has four sophomores, eighth freshmen and two eighth graders, along with a seventh grader. 12 players on the team are in their first year of JV baseball.

The team has had dominant pitching this year, posting a 2.00 team ERA this year.
