It’s postseason time as every sport in the area is in the postseason, or starting to wrap up.

With the postseason comes some big time-performances, and a lot of athletes to consider for athlete of the week, unsung heroes and breakout stars, along with the six to watch.

The selections for performances through last weekend.

With the postseason everyone is eligible for athlete of the weeks, even athletes who won during the regular season.

Let’s take a look at this week’s award winners.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
ETHAN HART, CORNING WRESTLING:

The Hawks capped his career in style bringing home a state medal from the New York State Wrestling Championships.

Hart, who was seeded 10th going into states, finished seventh in the state at 160 pounds to earn a state medal.

After dropping his first match, Hart had to wrestle back through wrestle backs to bring home the medal.

MEGHAN STURDEVANT, CORNING, BOWLING:
Had a dominant performance for the Hawks at the state qualifier.

Sturdevant led the Hawks to the team title and helped them qualify for states by shooting series of 606 and 587 on the day, for a total of 1,193.

The Corning bowler had the days high series with a 606 and she had the day’s high game with a 228.

UNSUNG HEROES
STEVEN GOUGH, ND, BOYS’ BASKETBALL:

Gough finished his Notre Dame career by again leading the team in scoring.

Gough has just been a constant consistent player for the Crusaders all season long and he had 16 points against Tioga in the sectional game.

Gough had 15 first-half points as the Crusaders built a big lead in the game, before Tioga came back to win.

KELLIE ZOERB, CORNING, GIRLS’ BASKETBALL:
Led the Hawks with 15 points in the sectional semifinals during a win over Horseheads.

Playing her former school, Zoerb had seven points in the third quarter to help the Hawks pick up the 54-52 victory.

BREAKOUT STARS:
LIAM LEVANTOVICH, HORSEHEADS, WRESTLING:

While he went 1-2 at the state meet, he pulled off an upset in his first match.

Levantovich, who was the 21st seed at 24-15 on the year, took out the 12th seeded wrestler, who was 38-7 on the year in the opening round.

The junior, making his first trip to states gained some experience and showed he can wrestle with some of the state’s best.

MADISON SMITH, ELMIRA, BOWLING:
The eighth-grader had a huge day for the Express at the state qualifier.

She just missed states by two spots and finished 11th overall at the state qualifier, shooting a nine-game total of 1,691.

Smith had a 212 high game and a 586 high series.

SIX TO WATCH:
EMILY HUNTLEY, HORSEHEADS, BOWLING:

The Horseheads bowler qualified for states after her performance at the state qualifier.

Hustle shot a 585 and a 589 for her two three-game series, for a total of 1,174 and she earned a chance to represent Section 4 at states.

Hustle had a high game of 215 on the day.

JOSEPH ENDERLE, CORNING, BOWLING:
Shot at the second highest series of the day with a 638 to lead the Corning boys to the state qualifier title and help them qualify for states.

Enderle shot 604 over his next three games as he had a team-best 1,242 for six games.

Enderle had a high game of 235 on the day for the Hawks.

PAYTON LITTLEFIELD, EDISON, GIRLS’ BASKETBALL:
Had 25 points for Edison in their first sectional game as the they picked up their first sectional victory in 15 years.

In the next round the season ended for Edison against state-ranked Unatego, but Littlefield against led the Spartans, scoring 11 points in the game.

ZACK CROWN, EDISON, BOWLING:
The Edison bowler shot 1,858 for nine games to take 13th place overall at the state qualifier, just missing a trip to states.

Crown had a high series of 685 and a high game of 245.

CARLY SCOTT, HORSEHEADS, GIRLS’ BASKETBALL:
The Horseheads senior capped her career with five more three pointers in a narrow loss to Corning in the sectional semifinals.

Scott had 15 points on five threes in the game to lead the Blue Raiders in scoring.

The Horseheads senior finishes her career with a school-record 191 threes.

CHARLES LOUCKS, CORNING, WRESTLING:
Was just one win away from bringing home a state medal from the New York State Championships.

Loucks made it to the quarterfinals in the tournament. In the wrestle backs he dropped a hard-fought match in the blood round to finish his career just a few points away from a state medal.
