STAC BOYS' BASKETBALL: CORNING TOPS ITHACA TO MOVE TO 10-0 ON THE SEASON (2022-01-19)

CORNING — The Hawks moved to 10— on the year with a 71-59 home win over Ithaca on Wednesday.

Corning, which is ranked 17th in the state, got a season-high 29 points from Landen Burch in the victory.

Corning outscored Ithaca 34-23 in the first half on their way to the win.

Burch added seven boards, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot and Isaiah Henderson and Aidan Chamberlin each had 15 points in the game.

Henderson had two boards for Corning and Chamberlin finished with four boards, an assist and two blocked shots.

Jackson Casey had five points, five boards, seven assists and a steal and Nesu Maphosa finished with five points, seven boards, six assists, two steals and a blocked shot.

Nick Garner finished with two points and two rebounds in the game.

Justin Yearwood led Ithaca with 16 points and Aaron Macolini had 14 points.

Corning returns to action a week from Friday when they host Union-Endicott in a battle of state ranked teams on senior night. The varsity game tips off at 7:15 p.m.
