HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: CORNING BOYS MOVE UP TO 17TH IN STATE, HORSEHEADS, ELMIRA, CORNING GIRLS ALL STATE RANKED (2022-01-18)

The Corning boys continue to climb up the state rankings, while the Horseheads, Elmira and Corning girls teams all remain state ranked.

The Corning boys, who are 9-0 on the season, moved up to 17th in Class AA in the newest state rankings.

For the girls Horseheads is 22nd in Class AA, while Elmira is one spot back at 23rd. Corning sits 30th in the state rankings.

The three girls teams are the only Section 4 teams ranked in AA. The Maine-Endwell girls are up to eighth in the state in Class A. Maine-Endwell is 6-2 on the year, with those losses coming to Elmira and Corning.

In Class C the top ranked team in the state, Newark Valley, is a Section 4 team. Section 4 has four state ranked teams in the class. Section 4 has five teams ranked in the state in Class D.

For the boys the Hawks are the only team ranked, or honorable mention, in Class AA.

Union-Endicott is ranked 11th in the state in Class A at 11-0 on the season.

In Class B the Seton Catholic boys are ranked sixth in the state, while Section 4 has three teams ranked in Class C and two ranked in Class D.
