STAC SWIMMING & DIVING: CORNING PICKS UP VICTORY AT ELMIRA (24 PHOTOS) (2022-01-11)

ELMIRA — The Corning boys’ swimming and diving team picked up a 94-83 win at Elmira on Tuesday.

Elmira’s Ryan McNutt had a pair of individual wins, and helped the Hawks in a relay, on the day, while Cooper Hackett put up a 273.55 in diving, the best score in Section 4 for six dives this year.

Hackett, Wesley Taft, Jacob Rose and Andrew Degnan won the 200 medley relay in 1:50.37 for Elmira and in the 200 free Aiden Spoors of Corning won in 2:02.19 followed by Degnan (2:02.94) and Aidan Clark of Corning (2:23.39).

In the 200 IM Corning went 1-2-3 with Ryan Kang (2:23.13), Alex Peng (2:25.73) and Marvin Reimsnyder (2:31.02).

Taft won the 50 free in 24.72 followed by Corning’s Nishant Lahiri (24.95) and Aidan Wilken (30.97).

In the diving Hackett had the 273.55 to win followed by Brenden Jardin-Reed of Corning (218.75) and Cooper Taft of Elmira (185.45).

McNutt won the 100 fly in 53.14 followed by Rose (55.58) and Lahiri (1:07.15). McNutt’s time again went below the state standard and was one of the 20 fastest times in the state this year. McNutt currently has the fifth-best time in the state in the year in the event, from the Watkins Glen Invite.

In the 100 free Degnan won in 53.16 followed by Wilken (57.46) and Liam Gill of Corning (1:01.80).

Spoors won the 500 free in 5:32.54 followed by Clark (6:18.83) and Lance Bahantka of Elmira (6:26.30).

Taft, Behantka, Hackett and Michael Taylor won the 200 free relay in 1:40.82.

McNutt won the 100 back in 56.96 followed by rose (1:01.27) and Peng (1:071.4).

Wesley Taft won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.62 followed by Taylor (1:18.63). Kang had the second best time as an exhibition (1:15.12) and Louis Ferratella (1:18.35) had the third best time as an exhibition.

Degnan, Hackett, Behantka and Rose won the 400 free relay in 3:41.83 while Spoors, Peng, McNutt and Kang had the best time (3:39.74) as an exhibition.
