Southern Tier Sports ReportOne day after the Corning and Horseheads boys met on the basketball court, the girls teams take center stage.
Here’s a look at the day’s events.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Corning at Horseheads, 7:15 p.m.:The Blue Raiders and Hawks hit the court for a STAC matchup. The two teams were the only area basketball teams to get games in last week, as Corning dropped its first game of the year, at state-ranked Hornell, while the Blue Raiders dropped a double-overtime thriller to state-ranked St. Mary’s.
Elmira at Ithaca, 6 p.m.:The Express moved up to No. 11 in the state rankings and they head to Ithaca for a STAC matchup. It’s a varsity only game at 6 p.m.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Notre Dame at Edison, 7:30 p.m.The two local teams meet in an IAC game. Notre Dame hasn’t played since before Christmas, while the Edison boys dropped a game against Waverly on Monday.
BOWLING:
Elmira at Horseheads, 3:40 p.m.The Express head to Crystal Lanes to take on the Blue Raiders in a STAC bowling matchup.
Union-Endicott at Corning, 3:40 p.m.The Hawks take on a solid Union-Endicott team at Crystal Lanes.
WRESTLING
Lansing at Edison, 6 p.m.The Spartans have their first home meet of the season as they play host to Lansing at Cohen Middle School.
