It was a light week of sports last week with the holidays, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t some big performances.

Let’s look at the top performances of last week with the athletes of the week, unsung heroes of the week, breakout stars of the week and the six to watch, which started last week, and highlights six athletes who haven't been an athlete of the week yet this fall, but are athletes to keep an eye on.

ATHLETES OF WEEK
CARLY SCOTT, HORSEHEADS, GIRLS’ BASKETBALL:

The Horseheads standout had a huge game in a double-overtime loss to state ranked St. Mary’s.

Scott had seven threes on her way to 23 points in the victory.

For Scott, the seven threes helped her break the school career record. She now has 156 for her career, breaking Jillian Casey’s mark of 154.

The seven threes are also the second most that Scott has had in a game in her career.

Scott has 28 this year through seven games, averaging four per game.

JACK GREGORSKI, CORNING, T&F:
The Corning senior ran in his first indoor track and field meet after running at nationals to cap his cross country season.

After a dominating cross country season in which he won the state championship individually and helped Corning win the team state title, Gregorski is off to a dominant start in the indoor season.

At a meet at RIT won the 1600 in 4:25.75 and he also won the 3200 meters in 9:38.95 for the Hawks.

UNSUNG HEROES
EVA KORATSIS, HORSEHEADS, GIRLS’ BASKETBALL:

Had a career-night against St. Mary’s.

Koratsis finished with 14 points in the game, scoring seven of her points in the two overtime periods to help lead the Blue Raiders.

Had big shots late in the game to help Horseheads stay in the game.

ETHAN HART, CORNING, WRESTLING:
Was a runner-up for the Hawks at the tough Windsor Tournament.

Hart wrestled great competition in the tournament and was runner-up two two-time state champion Carter Baer of Gouvenuer.

BREAKOUT STARS
MEGAN WOLF, HORSEHEADS, GIRLS’ BASKETBALL:

The freshman had a career-high 14 points for the Blue Raiders in their double-overtime game against St. Mary’s.

Wolf, has been taking on a bigger role each game for the Blue Raiders, and she made four-of-four free throws in the game and she had had four points in both the second, third and fourth quarters, while making two big free throws in the overtimes.

CALEB BELANGER, ELMIRA, T&F:
The Elmira junior had a strong showing at the afternoon session at the Quinney Invitational.

Belanger, who was also a standout in cross country, won the 1000 meters in 2:53.90 for the Express.

SIX TO WATCH
CHARLES LOUCKS, CORNING, WRESTLING:

The Corning standout was a third-place finisher at 152 pounds at the tough Windsor Tournament.

He was a runner-up in sectionals in 2020, and he took third behind a pair of really tough wrestlers, one of them a former state medalist.

CAEL OWEN, HORSEHEADS, WRESTLING:
The Horseheads wrestler finished sixth at the tough Windsor Tournament at 132 pounds.

Owen, a sectional runner-up in 2020 placed at his seed at one of the harder weights in the tournament.

RYAN MASSENGALE, HORSEHEADS, WRESTLING:
The Blue Raiders wrestler was a sectional champion in 2020.

Massengale finished sixth at the rugged Windsor Wrestling Tournament.

MOLLY WOLF, HORSEHEADS, GIRLS’ BASKETBALL:
Hit the game-tying basket at the end of regulation to force overtime for the Blue Raiders in a double overtime loss to St. Mary’s.

Had four points in the game for Horseheads.

EMMA KAMAS, HORSEHEADS, GIRLS’ BASKETBALL:
The freshman came up big for the Blue Raiders, who were shorthanded against St. Mary’s.

Kamas had five points, including a big three pointer to help the Blue Raiders get off to a strong start in the first quarter.

SOPHIA RESUE, CORNING, TRACK AND FIELD:
The freshman had a strong showing during an indoor meet at RIT.

She won the high jump at 4-feet, 10-inches and she took fourth in the 300 meters in 45.71.
