HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: CORNING USES THREE BIG INNINGS TO TOP M-E (2023-03-28)

ENDWELL — Corning used three big innings to pick up a 10-6 over Maine-Endwell on Thursday afternoon.

The Hawks scored three in the top of the first in the win. The Spartans answered back with three in the third, but Corning had four in the fourth and three in the sixth to go up 10-3, before the Spartans added three in the final two innings.

Daphne Sherman had a big game at the plate going 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI and a run scored.

Kendall Curreri had two hits and an RBI, one of her hits was a triple, and Peyton Sullivan had a triple, three RBI and three runs scored.

Sophia Polzella scored three runs and Lauren DeRosa and Kayleigh Sparks each had hits in the game, while Sophie Schoonover and Amelia Smith each scored runs in the game.

Sullivan worked 3 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven and Matti Johnston worked 3 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and striking out three.
