HIGH SCHOOL FLAG FOOTBALL: ALS THROWS FOR 224 YARDS AS HORSEHEADS OPENS WITH WIN (2024-03-27)
Southern Tier Sports ReportGREENE — The Horseheads flag football team opened the season with a 25-18 win at Greene on Wednesday night.
Jessica Als had a huge day throwing the ball, going 25-for-39 for 224 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Greene had two first-half touchdowns to lead 12-6 at the half. Peyton Butts had a 12-yard touchdown run for Horseheads in the first half.
In the second half Butts had a 10-yard touchdown catch from Als and then Olivia Gavin had a 10-yard touchdown catch from Als.
Abby Johnson had a 10-yard touchdown catch from Als and then Als hit Karis Adams on the two-point try to cap the scoring.
Adams ran for 61 yards on seven carries and Butts ran three times for 10 yards and a score.
Marloe Laughlin ran four times for 10 yards, while Als gained seven yards on two carries.
Butts had 12 catches for 87 yards and a score and Gavin had five catches for 48 yards and a score.
Johns had two catches for 30 yards and a score and Adams had five catches for 35 yards.
Brooks Stuart had a 10-yard catch and Alexis Knox had a 14-yard catch.
Laughlin had three tackles on defense and Caitlyn Slavin had 10 tackles, two of them for a loss.
Carly Hansen had six tackles and Essana Marks had eight tackles. Adams had four tackles and Knox had two interceptions and a tackle.
