SOUTHPORT — The Notre Dame Crusaders had there players with a pair of goals, but they came up short against Union-Endicott 13-7 to open the season.

“I was proud of the way our team played all 48 minutes and never gave up,” Notre Dame coach Geoff Crossley said. “We were short some players and others had been battling the flu.

“U-E has a big talented team and it is great to see how far they have come in the last couple of years.”

Kevin Green, Garrett Kane and Chris O’Brien all had two goals for Notre Dame in the game.

Finn Schweizer had a goal and two assists and Liam Schweizer had two assists.

Garrin Dougherty had six caused turnovers and added seven ground balls.

New Notre Dame goalie Dylan Mattoon had 12 saves in net.

“We hope to get everyone healthy and back on the field for Wednesday’s game at Seton,” Crossley said.
